Hard Bow Cases for Compound Bow Hunters and Archers

Our hard bow cases are engineered for archers and bow hunters carrying the full kit: a fully-strung compound bow with stabilizer, quiver, arrows, broadheads, releases, range finders, and field accessories. Every hard bow case in this collection has deep-wide internal geometry that gives bow limbs room without forced compression, plus an IP67-sealed shell that takes airline cargo, off-road runs, and weather. Looking for the best hard case bow case for checked airline travel or backcountry hunting? These are it.

Which Size Hard Bow Case Fits Your Setup? 48", 50" & X-Large

Choosing the right compound bow cases hard shell starts with your axle-to-axle measurement and total kit length. Shopping for a large bow case 50 inch or longer? Our 54" deep-wide x-large bow case clears the 50-inch mark with room to spare for arrows and a quiver — and if you need a deep bow case for tall sights and long stabilizers, the deep-wide geometry on both models keeps everything from compressing. Quick comparison of our 48 bow cases and X-Large model:

Deep-Wide 54" X-Large (NG00006-BOW)54 inchesLonger ATA setups (32"+ ATA) plus full arrow payload and quiverIntegrated arrow section, up to a full dozen shaftsCustomizable pluck-and-pullYesTSA-approved lockable fittings

Both compound bow hard case models feature IP67-rated waterproof shells, pressure-equalization valves for air travel, and customizable pluck-and-pull foam you configure exactly to your riser profile, limb pockets, and stabilizer length — a pre-cut compound bow foam insert approach where no two layouts need to be identical.

Compound Bow Hard Cases — 48" and 54"

The 48" Stacker hard compound bow case (NG00005-BOW) and 54" deep-wide hard bow case (NG00006-BOW) handle most modern compound bow geometries with riser, limbs, stabilizer attached, and accessories. Pre-cut foam cradles hold the bow riser, limbs, and arrow shafts in fixed positions during transport — drop the bow in, close the hard case for bow, your gear stays exactly where you set it. Both compound bow hard cases keep your compound bow in case foam that immobilizes it edge to edge.

Bow and Arrow Hard Case — Full Kit Capacity

Every bow and arrow hard case in this collection has dedicated arrow storage: pre-cut foam cradles for arrow shafts (broadheads or field tips), an integrated arrow section for up to a full dozen shafts, accessory pockets for releases and range finders, and room alongside for quivers and small kit. One hard case for bow storage carries an entire hunting setup — no need for a separate bag.

48-Inch and 54-Inch Hard Case Bow — Specs and Fit

Customizable pluck-and-pull foam lets you configure the interior precisely for your riser profile, limb pockets, and stabilizer length. A pressure-equalization valve prevents lid lock during altitude changes, so the case opens cleanly after a flight. These bow cases hard models are built for hunters who need a reliable hard sided bow case — a hard case bow ready for every trip. If you're comparing an archery hard bow case or hard shell bow case for range days versus airline travel, the same IP67 shell covers both jobs.

Flying with Your Compound Bow: TSA-Approved Hard Cases

Air travel with archery equipment has specific rules, and a proper hard bow case is non-negotiable. TSA requires bows and arrows to travel as checked baggage only — they are not permitted in the cabin. Both models in this collection ship with TSA-approved lockable fittings and an IP67-sealed, crush-resistant shell, so flying with a compound bow means checking one locked bow hard case and collecting it intact at your destination.

Crossbow Case Fit Check — Will a Crossbow Fit a Hard Bow Case?

We are often asked for a crossbow case. Crossbows are shorter than a compound bow but much wider across the limbs, so width — not length — decides the fit. Measure your crossbow at its widest point (limb tip to limb tip, uncocked) and its tallest point (scope or rail to stirrup), then compare against the interior of each case: the 48" Stacker Deep Wide (NG00005-BOW) has a 45.28" x 17.72" x 6.30" interior, and the 54" X-Large (NG00006-BOW) has a 51.57" x 13.19" x 4.92" interior. Narrow-limb and compact crossbows under about 17" wide and 6" tall can travel in the 48" case with pluck-and-pull foam cut around the stock and limbs; full-width crossbows will not fit either model, and we would rather say so than sell you the wrong case.

Soft Bow Case vs. Hard Bow Case

A soft bow case is lighter and cheaper, and it is fine for a short drive to the range where the bow rides on a seat. It offers no crush protection, no seal against rain or dust, and airlines will not accept it for checked archery equipment. A hard bow case adds an IP67 gasket, a shell that can be stacked under other gear in a truck bed, TSA-approved lockable fittings, and foam that holds the sight and stabilizer so they are still zeroed when you arrive. If the bow leaves your vehicle for a hunt, a flight, or a long haul, the hard case is the right tool; keep the soft case for the five-minute trip to the local range.

Archery Case Capacity — Bow, Arrows, Quiver & Accessories in One Case

Both models work as a complete archery case rather than a bow-only shell. The integrated arrow section holds up to a dozen shafts with broadheads or field points, and the pluck-and-pull layer leaves room for a detached quiver, release aid, rangefinder, wrist sling, spare strings and a small tool kit. Hunters who fly with a compound bow case typically keep broadheads in a covered box inside the case; the foam keeps that box, the bow and the arrows from shifting in a cargo hold.

Hard Bow Case FAQ

What is a hard case for a bow?

A hard case for a bow is a rigid, impact-resistant shell with interior foam that immobilizes the riser, limbs, and arrows during transport. Our models use IP67-rated waterproof shells, pressure-equalization valves, wheels, and TSA-approved lockable fittings in 48-inch and 54-inch deep-wide sizes, protecting a fully-strung compound bow with stabilizer attached.

Can you fly with a compound bow?

Yes. TSA allows compound bows in checked baggage only, and airlines expect them in a locked hard case. A TSA approved bow case with lockable fittings lets agents inspect the case without cutting your locks, and the pressure-equalization valve ensures the lid opens cleanly after altitude changes.

Will my compound bow fit in a 48" case?

Most compound bows up to roughly 30" axle-to-axle fit the 48" Stacker with stabilizer and accessories stowed. Longer setups (32"+ ATA) or a full arrow payload with quiver should step up to the 54" deep-wide X-Large — our large bow case 50 inch shooters choose for extra clearance.

Do you sell a dedicated crossbow case?

Not a crossbow-specific model. Compact crossbows under roughly 17" wide and 6" tall fit the 48" Stacker Deep Wide bow case with custom-cut foam; wider crossbows do not fit our bow cases. Measure limb tip to limb tip before ordering.

Is a soft bow case good enough for a hunting trip?

For a drive to a local range, yes. For flights, truck-bed transport, wet weather or anything that puts other gear on top of the bow, a hard bow case with an IP67 seal and lockable fittings is the safer choice, and it is the only option airlines accept for checked archery equipment.
