A soft rifle case is a padded, lockable-zipper gun bag that protects AR-15s and shotguns during range trips, vehicle transport, and home storage. A 16" carbine with the stock collapsed fits the 34" Intact Series case (33.46" interior); builds with the stock extended, longer barrels or fixed stocks need the 48" model (42" interior). Eylar soft rifle cases combine dense foam padding, a water-resistant exterior, and lockable zippers for lightweight, secure protection.
AR 15 Soft Case Sizes — 34" and 48" Intact Series EVA Cases
Eylar makes two soft rifle cases, both in the Intact Series stacker design: a molded EVA shell with dense foam inside, a water-resistant exterior and lockable zippers, so each one is an ar 15 soft case with more structure than a fabric rifle soft carry case. Measure your rifle from muzzle to butt in the configuration you store it in (stock collapsed or extended, optic and muzzle device fitted) and pick the interior that clears it:
| Model | Exterior | Interior | Weight | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 34" Intact Series EVA Soft Rifle Case (NG00007) | 34.25" x 13.78" x 3.94" | 33.46" x 12.60" x 3.54" | 2.75 lb | 16" carbine with the stock collapsed, AR pistols, shotguns broken down |
| 48" Intact Series EVA Soft Rifle Case (NG00008) | 44.37" x 16" x 6.12" | 42" x 13.5" x 5.25" | 3.2 lb | AR-15 with the stock extended, 18"–20" barrels, fixed stocks, rifles with a mounted optic |
A 16" carbine measures roughly 32"–33" with the stock collapsed and 35"–36" extended, so the 34" case is a close fit for collapsed storage and the 48" case is the right ar15 soft rifle case for anything longer. Both share the Intact stacker footprint, so they stack with other Intact Series cases in a vehicle. For a flight you still need a locked hard-sided container — see the 38"–53" AR-15 hard rifle cases.

Soft Rifle Case FAQs
Will a soft case fit an AR-15 pistol?
Yes. An AR 15 pistol case soft option works the same way as a full-size case — just shorter. Measure your build's overall length and choose a compact soft case that matches; the dense foam padding and lockable zippers protect shorter AR pistol platforms during range trips and vehicle transport.
Is a soft or hard rifle case better for travel?
For range days and vehicle transport, a soft rifle case is lighter and easier to carry. For airline travel, TSA requires firearms in checked baggage to be transported in a locked, hard-sided container — see our hard rifle cases for TSA-approved options.
What size soft rifle case do I need for an AR-15?
A 16" carbine with the stock collapsed fits the 34" Intact Series case (33.46" interior). With the stock extended, or with an 18"–20" barrel or a fixed stock, choose the 48" model (42" interior). Measure your rifle's overall length and allow about an inch of clearance.
